WELCOME to the new website for the Yelverton & District Local History Society.

At last we are back at the Meavy Parish Hall. Our first event at the end of September passed off successfully and it was great to see so many of our members in attendance. We thank you once again for your patience and understanding during the last 18 months and look forward to our next 2 events this year and a full programme again in 2022..

Please refer to the “Events in 2021” page and side panels on this page, for the details.

Please note that fees paid for the year 2020 have been carried over to 2021 for all our current members.. Donations and new members always welcomed.

The Society was formed over thirty years ago, in 1982, by a group of people who believed there was a need to study the fascinating history of the villages nestling on the Yelverton side of Dartmoor, and to make an effort to record as much of that history as possible while the places existed free of development and the people remembered the past.

Each month (except December) we invite a speaker to present a talk on their own specialist subject. During the Summer months, this is an outdoor event with a visit to a place or location of interest for a tour or guided walk. Details on membership etc are on the ‘About’ page.
