WELCOME to the website for the Yelverton & District Local History Society.
WELCOME BACK TO ALL OUR MEMBERS
Three successful events were held from September at the Meavy Parish Hall and we would like to say a big thank you to those of you who supported us in these still slightly tricky times – it was so good to be back amongst you all again in person.
Our 2022 programme is now complete and the “Events in 2022” page has been updated with our full programme for the year.
Forms are now available from our secretary and at our meetings. Fees for 2022 are now £7 single and £11 family. Donations and new members always welcomed.
The Society was formed over thirty years ago, in 1982, by a group of people who believed there was a need to study the fascinating history of the villages nestling on the Yelverton side of Dartmoor, and to make an effort to record as much of that history as possible while the places existed free of development and the people remembered the past.
Each month (except December) we invite a speaker to present a talk on their own specialist subject. During the Summer months, this is an outdoor event with a visit to a place or location of interest for a tour or guided walk. Details on membership etc are on the ‘About’ page.
